Daniel Díaz – Composer Biography: Daniel Díaz is an Argentinian composer, arranger and music producer based in Paris, specializing in film, television and contemporary music. His musical journey began with classical and jazz training in Buenos Aires. Since then, he has built an international career as a composer for film and television, as well as a performer and producer, with work spanning solo albums, collaborations and global production music.

A multi-instrumentalist with a career spanning over 25 years, he has worked as a performing and session musician, arranger, producer and musical director. His versatility extends across genres such as jazz, rock, experimental electronic music, tango and various styles of Latin American music.

Composer, arranger, producer, multi-instrumentalist. Born in Argentina, Daniel Díaz holds both Spanish and Argentine citizenships and speaks Spanish, English, French and Portuguese.

He studied classical and jazz in Buenos Aires. This included music theory, electric bass, harmony, counterpoint and ear training. He attended several courses and clinics such as orchestration with Carlos Franzetti, improvisation with Gary Burton, production and bass with Pedro Aznar, tango history and language with Horacio Salgán, and Argentine folkloric rhythms with “Cuchi” Leguizamón.

In 1992 and 1996 he traveled to the USA, where he studied improvisation with Bruce Gertz and Oscar Stagnaro at Berklee College of Music (Boston) and bass with Mark Egan, Percy Jones in New York City, and Alexis Skjlarevsky in Los Angeles. Then, he moved to Paris in 1997, taking upright bass classes with Michel Benita and François Rabbath.

Professional Career

For over 25 years, he has developed an important career as a session and backing musician in Argentina and Europe, playing bass and other instruments, touring and recording with numerous jazz, rock, fusion, Latin and Tango bands.

Known for his versatility in jazz, Latin, rock, traditional, and electronica, he has performed live and in the studio as a session musician on bass, double bass, guitar, and keyboards. He has also worked as an arranger, producer, and musical director with many projects and artists in the USA, Argentina, and Europe.

Since 1997 he has lived in Paris, continuing both his session musician and arranger/producer careers, recording and performing worldwide. He has played, toured, and recorded with Juan Carlos Cáceres, Raúl Barboza, Magik Malik, Minino Garay, Élise Caron, Francis Lalanne, Peio Serbielle, Jorge Chaminé, Teresa Berganza, Renaud, Miguel Ángel Estrella, Tryo, Alfredo Arias, Cuarteto Cedrón, among many others.

From 1992 to 1997 in Buenos Aires, he performed his compositions live with his own band and began a solo recording career with the worldwide release in 1995 of his first album The Years Alone. This first  solo reocrd was released on North American label Green Linnet/Xenophile. In this album, Daniel Díaz composed, arranged and performed 11 songs written between 1986 and 1993, playing most of the instruments and featuring several prominent South American guest musicians.

He continued with Segundo Ciclo (1997), released worldwide by Timeless Records, followed by 10 more albums between 2000 and 2015. After his CD album Swan Song (2015), he has released his music digitally — albums, singles, and EPs — across all major streaming and download platforms.

As of October 2021, his streaming profiles (Spotify, Apple, Deezer, etc.) include more than 665 of his compositions, recorded solo or in collaboration.

Composer Daniel Díaz – Present Time, Production Music & Film

2006 – Present: In 2005, composer Daniel Díaz began working for the French publisher Cézame/FLE as a composer and producer–multi-instrumentalist, contributing to numerous music library albums. He continues this collaboration today and has developed a parallel career as a film, television, and documentary composer, with works featured in catalogues from Universal Production Music, Warner Chappell, Sonoton, Getty, APM, and others. More than 560 of his compositions are now licensed globally.

Daniel performed guitars and basses for the soundtrack of Undertow and Vanished Elephant (by Selma Mutal). He continues his work as a composer for TV/Films. For example, in November 2009, he composed and performed the original music for Tennessee Williams’ Suddenly, Last Summer (directed by René Loyon, 2009), and the short film Quitte ou Double (by Alexandre Coffre), featured at the 2012 Cannes Festival.

Today, Argentinian composer Daniel Díaz continues his work as an on-demand film composer while focusing on his own artistic projects, releasing music across genres and producing other artists, alongside select live performances in Europe and beyond.

In recent years (2023–2025), he has continued to expand his catalogue of digital releases, blending acoustic instruments, electronic textures, and world influences. His latest albums and singles explore minimalism, ambient soundscapes, and modern chamber music — all showcasing his multi-instrumentalist approach and refined sense of melody. In 2024, he composed the original music for the series Stand-Up: La Rage de Rire  for the Franco-German TV channel ARTE. After the pandemic in 2020-2021, he focused on producing three collaborative albums: Latin Percussionary with Minino Garay, Natural with Selma Mutal, and above all the acclaimed Souvenirs Panamericanos in duo with Raúl Barboza.

He remains an active contributor to international production music libraries and continues to collaborate with filmmakers and artists worldwide from his Paris studio. Alongside his compositional work, Daniel performs live in selected projects and produces music for other artists across diverse genres.

With a discography spanning over three decades and hundreds of licensed works, composer Daniel Díaz stands as one of the most versatile and prolific Argentinian musicians of his generation.
